Located just north of the main drag, this cozy watering hole serves up unique modern Mexican fare that is sure to blow your mind. Take their Coca-Carnitas for example. It’s a one-in-a-million blend of Mexican Coca-Cola braised pork belly & shoulder, salsa pasilla, onion, and cilantro. In addition, they have some crazy good signature cocktails. Specifically, their Manzanita cocktail is a delicious way to start off the fall season, with cinnamon infused Espolon Reposado Tequila, apple, agave, lime, all topped with Strongbow Hard Cider (YUM!).
Broad Ripple Brewpub
Way back in 1990, an honorable Middlesborough-born Englishmen by the name of John Hill, of North Yorkshire, established Indiana’s very first brewpub right here in Broad Ripple. With his wife Nancy, a Hoosier native, they wanted to replicate the English pub experience from across the pond. Complete with dark wood paneling, decorative tin ceilings, and cozy fire place, the Broad Ripple Brewpub seems to transport you to the beautiful old English pubs in North Yorkshire. Besides flaunting its massive menu of delicious comfort food, it has an incredible line of home-brewed beer on tap as well. We recommend its Oktoberfest beer, an amber colored lager with a rich balanced malt and hop profile that provides a crisp clean finish.
This beautiful waterfront locale is considered “the realization of a dream” by its owners, husband-and-wife duo George and Mona. We definitely can see why. George, originally from Egypt, and Mona, originally from Lebanon, bring their expert knowledge of authentic, delicious Mediterranean cuisine to the shores of the Broad Ripple canal. If there’s one thing we could swear by other than the deliciousness of their food and the beauty of its interior design, it is the FRESHNESS. Like, damn, we’ve had fresh food before, but this stuff tastes like it came straight out of your grandma’s vegetable garden. We highly recommend their Garlic Feta Fries, Greek Salad, and Lamb Shank.
The Nook by Northside
If you’re anything like us, there are some nights where you just want some good pizza, and a good glass of wine to go with it. Meet Nook by Northside. This delightful little eatery serves up scrumptious artisanal American style pizza, as well as choice wines and spirits. The beauty of Nook lies much in its simplicity, from the menu to the ingredients. It features fresh, house-made ingredients and locally-source meats and produce when available. Our favorite pie? The Nook, with house-made tomato sauce, fennel sausage, red wine braised mushrooms, pickled red onion, applewood smoked bacon, house blended cheese. Pair that with a nice red and you’re in for one fantastic Friday night.
Txuleta Basque Cider House
This Spanish kitchen and cider bar is one of the most unique places in Broad Ripple. Located right above Brugge Brasserie, this hidden gem is known for its eclectic line of Basque plates, such as fish stew and cider-braised chorizo. Available either in tasting menu or as snacks, along with house-made ciders and Belgian-style beers, it’s the perfect spot to hide away and relax among the dark wood bar, deep blue walls, and its beautiful seating. We recommend trying their fruity Sidra Naturala cider, and their mouth-watering Fried Chicken Pipperada.
