Labor Day in Indy: 5 Ways to Treat Yo’ Self

August 31, 2018

Honestly, Labor Day is one of the most underrated national holidays we have. It is a day literally dedicated to you not working.

Yes, there’s Christmas, the Fourth of July, and other national holidays where you have the day off, but come on, let’s be real. Those holidays are filled with parties, events, and other fun, but stressful activities.

But Labor Day?

You have the incredibly beautiful right to just sit on your ass, binge on Netflix, take a bike ride, or maybe go do something cool with your friends or family.

If you’re looking for something to do, here are some ways you can get the most out of your Labor Day Weekend:

Indy LaborFest (Saturday, September 1)

Enjoy three blocks of live music, food, drinks and a kid’s zone. Just last year, over 20,000 people attended!

11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Georgia Street, downtown Indianapolis, free admission,

Metazoa Brewing Company Ales & Oms Yoga Series (Sunday, September 2)

Yoga and beer. Name a better duo, ’cause I’ll wait. Metazoa Brewing Company is hosting an all-levels yoga class accompanied by a pint of your choice for $3 extra. Trust me, it’s worth it.

Noon, Metazoa Brewing Company, 140 S. College Ave., $10,

Rib Fest 2017 (Monday, September 3)

Enjoy some fantastic grilled meat while helping kids in need. Union Brewing Company, based in Carmel, is cooking up ribs as part of the “Coats for Kids” benefit. All you need to do is bring a dish to share and a coat, or any other cold-weather items, and the meat is YOURS. (Yum!)

Noon to 9 p.m., Union Brewing Co., 622 S Rangeline Road, Carmel,

Labor Day Cook Out at Triton Tap (Monday, September 3)

Union Brewing isn’t the only brewery to start a cookout. Broad Ripple’s Triton Tap will be grilling out, so make sure to stop by and indulge in drink specials, food and games all through the day.

Noon, Triton Tap, 915 Broad Ripple Ave.,

Labor Day Street Fair

Treat both your mouth and ears at the 21st annual Labor Day Street Fair. Food is available for purchase from the Jazz Kitchen and Yats, and live music is provided by Clifford Ratliff & Friends, Pavel and Direct Contact, and Rob Dixon and Friends.

2:30 to 8 p.m., The Jazz Kitchen, 5377 N. College Ave., free,
