How to Curb Your Winter Blues

February 16, 2021

If I’m being honest, February is my least favorite month. It’s always feels like it’s the coldest, and it feels extra dreary. Everything in me is itching for warmer temps. It feels so close yet so far. These last few weeks leading up to warmer weather (well, hopefully…who knows with Indiana weather, right?) can really drag on. So here’s a few ideas to curb your winter blues.

Invest In Things to Keep You Warm

One of the best things I did to help me through the winter was investing in a good winter coat and warm winter boots. It sounds silly, but I’m ALWAYS cold and I was always miserable outside and trying to walk my dog in the cold. So last year I bought myself a longer winter coat (this one), and warm winter boots that are versatile enough to dress up or down (I love my Blundstones!) and they’ve been game changers for having to go outside.
Here are a few other items I’ve heard/or used that are GREAT for keeping warm.

Heated Vest – I linked the women’s one, but I know there’s plenty of other options!

Rechargeable Hand Warmers– You can stick these in your pockets!

Neck Warmer– If you’re one that tenses up during the winter, any type of neck warmer, whether microwaveable or electric is super nice to help ease muscle tightness!

A Cozy Throw Blanket– I linked up Barefoot Dreams throws and blankets– they’re an investment, but they’re so soft and warm.

Cozy Up at a Coffee Shop

There’s nothing more cozy than a coffee shop date with your significant other or a friend. Covid has made coffee dates a little more difficult, but here’s a list of some local coffee shops in the Indy are that ARE allowing seating inside right now.

Leviathon Bakehouse

Hubbard and Cravens

Landlocked Bakery

Indie Coffee Roasters

Prufrock Coffee Company

Try a New Restaurant

There’s quite a few new restaurants popping up in the Indy area– going somewhere new and changing up the scenery is a great way to lift your spirits. Here’s a few places in Indy to check out.

Passione Indy – An authentic Italian Pizzeria–and who doesn’t love an amazing pizza?!

The Bottleworks Garage Food Hall– a fun atmosphere with multiple vendors to choose from!

Root & Bone– If you haven’t been inside, it has a great atmosphere and AMAZING southern food.

California Burger– This is new to Indy and I’m dying to try it because I’ve heard amazing things! I envision it being like an In & Out Burger…YUM. There was an article released the other day that said the wait time has been consistently long…around 2 hours. CRAZY. But must be worth it, right?!

We’re almost to March so hopefully there are warmer days on the horizon, but hopefully these ideas will help you stay sane in the cold in the meantime. 🙂
