Indianapolis may be cold half the year, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have great spots to sit outside when the weather starts to warm up. If you’re in need of some local places to try out this Spring and Summer, I compiled a list for you 🙂 Happy eating!
Gallery Pastry Shop – My all time favorite brunch spot for Saturday morning. There are two locations in Indianapolis, but my favorite is the one in Broad Ripple. Super close to the monon, it’s the perfect, dog-friendly spot to go after walking your dog on a Saturday morning. They have the best brunch and drink options with the cutest patio space. Enjoy a mimosa or coffee and your favorite breakfast sammie.
Metazoa Brewing Co. – Metazoa is known for it’s love of animals. Since they opened, they’ve been giving 5% of their profits to animal and wildlife organizations. This craft brewery in the heart of Indianapolis, offers a wide range of traditional ales. Make sure you bring your dog as they’re one of the most dog friendly spots in Indianapolis. They have a fenced in dog park for your pup to run around!
3UP Rooftop Bar – A swanky rooftop bar located in downtown Carmel, above Anthony’s Chophouse, this is a must go to patio space to enjoy a high end signature cocktail.
Sun King Brewing – There are 5 different Sun King locations in the Indianapolis area, but my two favorites are probably Carmel and Fishers. With a food hall type vibe, you can order your food, grab a drink and head outside to their grassed area. They even have a projector that they play kid’s movies on! It’s right off the Monon Trail and a perfect location to gather friends.
Livery – This Latin inspired menu is unique and delicious. There are 2 locations in the Indianapolis area– one in Noblesville and one in downtown Indianapolis. We love going to the one in downtown Indianapolis and sitting in their rooftop area. Something about being downtown and on the rooftop with string lights gives me all the good vibes.
The Eagle – Known for it’s fried chicken, I would argue this is one of Indy’s favorite and most well known patio spaces located right in the heart of all the action on Mass Ave.
Garage Food Hall – Okay so this one isn’t quiiiiiite an outdoor patio, but I had to include it! New to Indianapolis, located in the new Bottleworks District, this is an awesome addition to the Indy area. The food itself is indoor, but I’m hopeful all the garage doors will open and it will feel more like an outdoor patio space. Fingers crossed! This is one you’ll definitely want to check out and explore as the weather gets warmer. You could even grab food and sit along the Bottleworks strip.
Late Harvest Kitchen – This professionally crafted, seasonal, American cuisine is located on the Northside/Castleton area in Indianapolis. It has a romantic and desirable patio space with a fire pit and herb garden.
The Rathskeller – Voted best German restaurant in Indianapolis, this is for sure a favorite. The biergarten patio in the back has gourmet pub-style food and a full-service walk up bar. If you go on a weekend, you might even get to enjoy some live entertainment!
Public Greens – part of the Patachou Foundation, this farm-market inspired cafeteria is a perfect brunch or dinner spot. With a few locations in Indianapolis, my favorite is the one in Broad Ripple. It’s right off the monon and has an outdoor fire pit for the chillier spring days. It devotes a percentage of it’s profits and crops to benefit the Patachou Foundation to provide nutrient filled meals to children in the Indianapolis area who need it. How cool is that?
Okay I was only going to post 10 but this 11th one is real good and I couldn’t resist!
La Revolucion – This place JUST opened back up. It’s a street taco style bar on the inside and a tiki hut vibe on the outside. The back patio is filled with string lights, fire pits to sit around and palm trees. You might feel like you’re on vacation somewhere other than Indianapolis 😉 They’re also known for their red chili pepper margarita!
Hopefully this will be a good reference for you when you’re trying to figure out a good patio space to eat this Spring and Summer! 🙂
